I just got the truck running last night for the first time in a long time... I bought the truck in a million different pieces. Got it all put together and have some vibration in the rear... It has a 350, sm465, 208tc, and a set of 10bolt axles with 4.10 gears... Detroit locker in the front. 6inch lift and 35s. It seems very torquey but runs out of gears quick... Is this normal with this set up?

4.10's are perfect with 35"s. I will be runnign 4.88's, but i will also be running an OD.
No OD, 4.11's are perfect for your Situation IMO.

When i had my 4.11's in, with a hopped up 350/th350/np203. It pulled pretty good to around 5ish. That was on 32"s.

Maybe after I finish tuning the motor up and actually put it on the road it will be a little better. Just don't think it will go much over 50mph. And I got a 205tc imputing in it.

Idk, if I recall correctly, the sm465's have numerically high gears, so wouldn't he be better off with a numerically smaller differential?

Edit:

Here's what I found on wiki:
Gear Ratios are:

First Gear - 6.55:1
Second Gear - 3.58:1
Third Gear - 1.70:1
Fourth Gear - 1.00:1
Reverse - 6.09:3

I'm thinking the OP is not going to be happy driving on any highway with those gears. Or maybe he just needs bigger tires....

You should be able to run 65 pretty easy with that setup. That's around 2,500-2,600 rpms.

For comparison, my buddies truck has a 350/sm465 and 4.10 gears with 31" tires and it will run 65 no problem.

Well it might not be to much fun on the high way... But should be a blast in the mud and trails.. That's what it's for any ways.. Guess you can't have the best for both

I have an sm465 transmission and 3.73 gears and 37 inch tires, 70 mph is about 2800 rpm. It's not great for cruising the hwys but it lets me drive it to and from the trails.
