Well i have an issue there as i just found out when i split is, the 208 adapter to the case has an ear cracked right off of it, so thats out.

If it’s just one ear it will Probabaly be fine to run it

Also, if the top pivot on your clutch pedal is worn out bad enough that new bushings won’t fix it
You can use a automatic brake pedal and flip it over and cut off the bottom half of the pedal and bolt the bottom half of your clutch pedal to it .

How exactly does that adapter work though? I dont know if theres enough length inside the cast iron adapter to fit it in there.

Yeah it may only 1 ear but it will let water get in and ruin my transmission.

The older combos had a coupler like that in them. Im guessing its the same length as one of those.

Thank you! How long is the cast iron adapter from the tranny to the transfer case? I think 7 or 7 1/4 inches. I am trying to see if theres enough room before i buy any parts. My transmission shaft is 32 splines and sticks out of the case roughly 8 1/2 inches, and the housing that the splined shaft slides into on the transfer case sticks out 2 inches even on the 205 and the over all lenght of the spot for the tranny shaft to go in the 205 is 3 1/2 inches even. So if it is 7 inches long 7 inches of my 8.5 inch shaft will be covered leaving 1.5 inches to slide into my tansfer case, a close but exact fit if i get the adapter kit.
Thats correct right? Or did i not account for something like the length of the splines? Y'all have been so helpful.

Im not sure how the newer stuff fits together. My trans has a male output and my 205 has a male input. Both ten splines and the coupler is all female, ten splines throughout. On my setup, the coupler is all inside the adapter. None of it sticking out of the adapter because the male end of the tcase sticks out, into the adapter. I cant measure the trans output because its all together under the truck, but i can jump under there tomorrow and measure the adapter, mating surface to mating surface and i do have another 205 laying around that i could measure anything you needed of of it, if that helps at all. In this picture you can see the output of the trans, nowhere near the 8.5” of yours. If you need the adapter measurement, bump this thread somehow tomorrow so i remember, lol. Glad to help.

Heres is a diagram i found showing the sm465 shaft differences, i have the lower 2 examples, 2wd and 4wd versions. The later 4x4 shaft sits inside the transfer case without an adapter. If i want to use that tranny i think i need a 27-32 spline female converter kit https://www.advanceadapters.com/products/716044-a--gear-input-gm-np205-long-32-spline/. Is expensive but i think it will work if i get the cast iron tranny to case adapter measurements! I wish it was as simple as just getting a sleeve adapter but theres not enough room for that. Next time i do something like this i am getting a whole parts truck with the complete setup i want in it so i dont have to play games like this!
Why couldnt GM have made them all the same...

Just measured it. Looks like right at 7” mating surface on trans to mating surface on tcase. Hard to get exact, but thats within a 16th or 8th.
