Okay, I know I'll take some heat for this but I'm thinking about swapping out my sm465 for a th400 with a floor shifter. I'm unlucky in that fact that my leg just won't work like it use to after my stroke. I got a 85 k20 with 350, sm465, 208. Is this a hard swap? What's all that's involed? Thanks in advance.

Damn. Wish i was closer. I got a good th400 n im wanting to go to the sm465. As far as the swap im not sure. Youll need an auto column and linkage. Auto brake peddle(wider one), and kickdown switch for the 400. How many spline is the 208. 400 is 32 if im not mistaken. Mine has a np203 behind it(full time, chain drive). I was thinking id go sm465/np205, 10 spline setup. But i know nothing about the 208. And i dont know about adapters either. Sorry i couldnt be more help.

It's a 32 spline. I was going to avoid a new steering column etc by installing a lokar floor shifter kit and keep the clutch pedal I'm kind of lazy and less work is better. Not always but in this case it is.lol

So u got a 32 spline 465 huh, wanna sell it when you swap? I think theyre hard to find on a count of the doublers guys were building. Id b a buyer, i think. Is there an adapter from 465 to 203 i wonder? Id stick with the full time. Id pay freight if the price was right on the trans.

I have an 85 K20, 350, th400 and 208 t-case.
In the past week I have swapped the auto column for a manual version (same year). Also, I installed a Lokar floor mounted shifter for the th400. I have used Lokar before and thier quality is first class. I am planning on a future trans swap from the 400 to a 4500. I have every version of pedal sets for the 85-87
( Manual vacuum, manual hydroboost, auto vacuum & auto hydroboost ). I only mention that so you can ask me questions if you need info. I swapped to the Lokar mainly so I could yank out the column and loose all the linkage that was interfering with my headers and exhaust.
In your case, you can just remove the clutch pedal and swap the brake pedal for an auto version. Easy to do, just a pain working under the dash but it's literally two double ended bolts. You can get replacement plastic bushings at any parts store for about $5.
