Was out wheeling and twice during the outing the stick locked in the neutral position could not move into any gear truck running or not. I moved shifter around and just waited and it started to work again any idea what it could be ? thank you

I would check the locknut cap for the shifter. Just at the base of the shifter. There will be two dowel pins right there to check as well, that's what holds the locknut and guides the shifter.

Quite possible to knock your stick out of "time" or proper location in conjuction of the shift forks. Basically, I had to remove the shifter, take a screw driver and pry the shift forks back into neutral postion, reinstall shifter and back to swapping gears.

I've never been in an sm465, but I once had this happen in a Jeep Scrambler with a T176. I ended up having to remove the entire top plate and reset all the shift linkages. I haven't had a problem since. On some manual transmissions, you'll get lucky and be able to reset the linkages through the shift lever hole with a flat head screw driver. If it is stuck bad enough you will need to go deeper though.
