Cool. Yeah, I agree and want to follow the original placement of my side stripe including the trim with a black line through the middle. Gonna try this new House of Color chrome paint for the main trim color. At $160 per pint it better be good.

Here are some pics from the 1979 sales brochure. Hope the images answer some trim questions Cooper hw. Sorry for the sideways display.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the group. nice truck. I have to ask a question on the trim along the side. On the front fender the striping goes down about 3-4" below the marker light and does not line up vertically with the side trim behind the tire all the way back. Is this how it's supposed to be? I am asking because I am getting ready to paint my square in the next month and will be "painting" this trim on". I didn't want the bulky trim popping out, but do like the trim to surround the white side stripe I will be pain

It looks like it has the low molding, but the pinstripe mimics the hi-low style molding, except from the front wheel back.

Nice truck OP, and welcome from the Texas Panhandle.

If his truck is truly a Silverado, which I believe it is looking at the interior, then it came with the attractive but flimsy aluminum moldings that followed the body lines. The stock lower trim piece would be lower, lining up with up the body line under the marker light like you mentioned.

I guess no one has caught it yet, but the lower trim on his truck is for an 81-87 Silverado. That is why it is not lining up. 73-80 trim follows a lower line. You can see here on my old '79 K15 where the trim should be.
