i unscrewed this. Anyone know it’s purpose? Does it change the pitch of the horn?

Loosening it did change the tone slightly, unless it’s just going out. Horn doesn’t sound off reliably, so up on the shelf it goes. I’m just going to use the wire to trigger a relay for a set of horns that will fill the useless spare tire area...

Revenge on my buddy needs to happen. He has a habit of sneaking up behind me and railing his 160dB train horn.

There's a guy with a '63 that attends the car show I go to in August. We always park next to each other and shoot the ****. His truck is converted to air bag suspension so he has the air compressor for the air bags, and he has a BIG air horn under the hood that he'll sound off a couple times. Some people get a laugh from it, and other scowl.

I wouldn’t ever use it except on a buddy. I’m pretty sure they aren’t legal for on road use anyhow. They will startle the hell out of you even if you’re expecting it.

I can honestly say, I’ve never used my horn other than giving big rigs a friendly toot for allowing me to pass on a grade. I don’t think I’ll miss the regular horn on road.

I’ll probably hold off til I get the truck to Idaho to see what inspections they do, as they may require a DOT horn.

When I was about 20-21, I was in the left turn lane and the light turned yellow so I continued. It turned red right as I got to the crosswalk, but there was nobody on the road, except a CHP. He pulled me over, and reached in the window and pressed the horn button. Nothing. I'd unplugged it about two years prior because it kept going off on its own. I was leaving the softball games and as I backed up the horn went off. So I played it like I meant to do it, and waved at everyone. Then it did it again, and as I drove it kept doing it...lol... So I had to stop and unplug it. But that CHP gave me a fix-it ticket and I just installed a column-mounted push button and the ticket got signed off. I'm sure a horn is required everywhere you go.
