So, there you go. The same water pump from 88-99 7.4 454 engines. All of which are serpentine set ups.

and 88-90 454s are still Mark IV engines, so this means the serpentine setup should work on your older Mark IV motor without problems.

Keep in mind that out of the 94,626 Suburbans made in 1990, that only 7,232 came with a 454.

Also remember to change the fan clutch and blade to a reverse rotation version.

On mine, I found the clutch and 9 blade fan from a '99 C3500 works really well.

That should be accomplished by taking fan off the burb right?

Yes, if it's serpentine.

Look at the belt set up closely, some of the late 80's to '91 had a factory mix of "V" and multi groove belts which is different from a true serpentine. I'm not sure if this set up uses a reverse or standard rotation pump/clutch/fan.
