Pic and engine details would be helpful. Best guess with the limited available information would be some sort of coolant temperature sensor for fuel injection, either TBI or aftermarket.

Still would like to see pics to verify. I'm going to guess you are talking about the sender for the light or gauge. It's in the head. Again guessing the one on the Tstat housing is for the dual capacity accelerator pump. Pics of the senders and your carb with the air cleaner off would be helpful. Reread your first post, it would be like me posting. What size shoes do I need. Posting. Give us enough information to help you. Year of truck, engine, transmission,CA. or 49 states. 85 CA spec would have a completly different carbureator and I don't believe the dual capacity accelerator pump.

The sensor on the thermostat housing 1 lead goes to the carb, where you are missing a plug, the other to ground. It provides a path to ground for the dual capacity accelerator pump in the carbureator. 1 shot cold,a different shot hot.

If you were still running the A.I.R. system, the Smog pump and all the associated vacuum hoses and other valves and sensors, those sensors on the thermostat are TVS sensors. Thermo Vacuum Sensor. They open and close based on engine temperature to active or de-activate various valves and sensors associated with the A.I.R. system.
