I had never been on FB before. Signed up as someone had recommended and was posting the same post to a few group and somehow managed to get myself blocked. I have appealed but I guess that takes time. I starting to find some on there especially in the areas you were recommending.
If you’re not on FB, a lot of the posts on the squarebody and other cars for sale pages are bs or scams. But it’s easy to tell.
I was thinking FB Marketplace as well.

No luck on the search for the actual truck but I was able to track down pics of my Dad’s original 1979

Do this. Closest youre gonna get to finding what is left of the pile of rust that used to be a daily driver 70s car in the rust belt for at least 25years. Sorry for the bad news.
Beautiful condition Square-body burbs are cheap compared to pickups. May even find the same color pretty common color scheme. If not, dad’s truck is only a paint gun away from reappearing.
Seriously unless dad hid a bag of diamonds in the heater core box, that’s a good motivation to find it. Lol
But they’d be gone because the heater core would have probably been replaced and the treasure found!
Lol
Pardon the sarcasm, but the chances that that rig is alive and its remnants haven’t been laid to rest in a junkyard or someone’s field are about the same as winning the Powerball.
Thanks for the recommendation I was able to get a copy of the sale order

Same color combo as our '79 Burb, ours had Camel Tan interior too but with buckets and console in front. Ours was also a 350/QJ/TH350 C10 Silverado. We went all over Texas in that Burb....

Thank you for posting that up.

Looks like it went through just a few days before I started (May 8, 1979 vs June 11, 1979).

We were up and down the east coast from New Jersey to Florida with lots of trips to OBX. Great times

Close to ours...ours was a C10 though. Did they have two different metallic brown in '79? Cause ours was more chocolate brown than that one. And our hood was the dark brown like the rest of it except for the side cove inside the trim. Besides working on the Burbs, I also got to wash them! So I remember them well!

Heck yeah! Runnin drivin original and same color. Not a stick though…
While you’re down there, this one looks like a deal too! Rent a Uhaul dolly and tow the one that runs the best and switch em out if the first one breaks down!
Prices are lower. This K10 seems reasonably priced if it’s as nice as it looks.

How original are you looking for if you can’t find your dad’s exact one?

I found this one as well. The color is not the same on this one but it is a MT and does have the mounting for the third row. It looks a little rougher from the body perspective.

We paid $1500 for ours in September 1989. No AC, the compressor was gone, and it had crank windows so we tried not to get stuck in traffic (no breeze!).

Well with this thing at the literal bottom of Texas a drive from there to NJ does not sound like fun without AC. Still trying to figure out if it is even available and whether the MT is worth the trade off of needing more eventual body work.

Could always do a clean manual swap. I've done a few manual conversions and there not bad. Parts are available and you can probably sell the auto to help offset costs.
