scratches

so i have some pretty deep scratches but none big enough to warrant touchup paint. however the deepest cutting compound i could get at autozone cant quite get em out either.... so what do you guys think i should do? these scratches are from tree limbs and twigs from trail riding. Would using a very very fine sand paper be a good idea or no?

I've always used a blend of GS27 and Zymol Cleaner Wax.

If that doesn't work they're too deep to remove.

I had to remove light key marks on my Ram not even a month after I bought it. They just laughed at every cutting compound I tried. I used, I believe, 2000 grit sandpaper(wet sanding of course), followed by a the usual cutting and buffing compounds. Actually looks better than the surrounding area now. Lol.

You have to be very very careful doing this because you can sand through the clearcoat in no time.

could i get some lighter grit sandpaper to be extra safe? also what all is entailed in wet sanding? never attempted this before

I suppose you could, but 3000 grit is almost like sanding with a piece of printer paper. Lol.

EDIT: I guess that 3M kit(below) comes with 3000 grit

Wet sanding is basically just spraying water on what you're sanding, making sure to keep the sandpaper and the surface liberally wet. If you've never done it before, you probably don't want to practice on your truck.

i guess ill try it out with 3000 i feel comfortable doing that.... i wish i had the dough for a repaint
