Don't they get brittle and break? I would think given the temperature swings up there they wouldn't last long.

I've seen some chipped but they seem to stand up fairly well. I painted mine along time ago

I feel like I am beating a dead horse. you can't, that's CAN'T mount a roof rack to a square body's drip rail. highdesertranger

My truck has a box

it would take some fab work but I have seen some where the tubing comes through the box or is built in structurally with it or the cab. I know it is getting me in depth than just adding a rack on top but that would be kinda of cool, plus im sure you could market a rack design that works with boxes.

I know if I had a bed and box Id like to have a rack integrated with it.

I attached an awesome drawing to hopefully show what I mean

most of the construction guys around here mount their boxes about 4-5 inches back so they can place shovels, tripods, things like that between the box and front of the bed. highdesertranger

I meant that I have a truck box/bed and that is what I use to carry stuff in..............why would you need roof racks on a pick up truck ???

well I use them to carry long stuff. my rack can handle 20 foot sections of whatever, pipe, rebar, wood, etc. bulk material is more useful in longer pieces. highdesertranger
