I’d really like to update the stereo in the truck and since I’d rather not hack into my dash with a normal size deck these seem to be the 2 choices available. Both are quite expensive but pretty close in price if you look at the models with comparable specs.

Does anyone have experience with both? It’s hard to decide which way to go.

My buddy chose retro sound with no complaints.
I have used it. It works like a stereo.

I put a retro sound in my 89 Burb. It works great and everything including the wiring harness was correct.

I put a Retro Sound Hermosa in my 77 K10 about a year and a half ago. Getting the two shafts set up just right was a bit of a pain, but I'm very OCD about my truck so I probably spent way more time on it than I should have. Looks good, works good, sounds good. I'm happy with it.

I installed a Retro Sound Hermosa in my '85. The shafts are a pain, but I used the factory radio to help with the measurements. Blue tooth and phone work great. I did have one shaft become defective. Retro Sound service was great and sent two replacements out.

So I guess the Retrosound is the more popular of the 2? I was kinda leaning to the Custom Autosound USA-630 but now I’m reconsidering. Even the 230 would work and is less $$ but no Bluetooth might suck.

Just wanted to confirm something from you guys with the Hermosa. If I go with the retrosound I need to also order a set of knobs and a bezel as they don’t come with it? Or can I use that stuff from the factory radio?

I have a Retrosound and it sucks. The buttons are a joke, flimsy and the chrome peels of. Everything is cheap plastic. The Aux function works only random. The Bowtie sticker on the scale fell of on the first warm spring day. It was a present from my wife so it's still in the truck, otherwise I would have pulled it out and ran it over. It's an older version, maybe the quality has improved.

You have to pick out what version you want. I wanted chrome knobs and face, but didn't like the chrome bezel, so I went with the black like the one below. The OEM stuff won't work as the shafts are different. I haven't had any issues with my chrome. My unit is only about a year old. I didn't go with the "Vintage" dial over lay as I was afraid it would come off, but make it also harder to see the digital screen.

I have the retro sound. It got a little scuffed up during install but overall I've been pleased. Bluetooth streaming and hands free works well. I used one of the USB's and replaced my cigarette lighter in the ashtray. Supports my 5 channel amp. Not gonna win any stereo competitions but probably wouldn't come in last either.

This is what I ordered today. I have not had any tunes for a year, and while the 454 is music to my ears, the phone blue tooth would be really nice, and love music, so excited to get this installed. Hope everyone is good out there, drought conditions here, fires all over, extreme fire conditions, luckily on lighting this week....
