Congrats!! If I ever make it to that age I may see about starting a small dog walking company to keep an income and exercise.
'dog walking'...? That actually means bending over to pick up dog ****... can't get around, face it.
You deserve better than that.
May I suggest cat herding perhaps?

Impressive being somewhere for almost 40 years! That seems to happen less and less now. My dad had spent around 40 years with the post office then took an early out retirement about 10 years ago. He loves working in his wood shop and on the house yard/garden.

I've been with the same place for 23 years and doubt that they will be around for another 5 years.

My old boss was laid off years ago and he was getting kinda close to retirement age. He ran parts for O'reilly's auto then is running parts for the local chevy dealer. He loves it also.

continually moving helps keep the body flexible and from becoming stiff and to rigid to lean over a fender of a car/truck. Plus if you are walking for exercise anyway why not get paid for it?

Congratulations! I hope..

My mom and dad both retired at 51. They both felt weird the first few months from what I recall, but they stay plenty busy. My mom runs grandkids around all day and my dad mountain bikes and dirt bikes all the time. They both stay up on their workouts and at 70 years old now, they seemingly have another 30+ to go.

I can’t wait! Lol

With fewer and fewer corporations offering pension plans, there's not a lot of incentive to remain with one company anymore. Especially if your pay reaches a plateau. 401k's go with you when you leave. I believe, in the long term, that will end up being detrimental to the retention of talent. Without the pension as a reason to stay, there's no point in working for less, if there's a company willing to pay you more. We've reached a point, where the easiest way to increase your income, is to switch employers.

This is why I work for myself. That way, only the free market and my work ethic get to decide what I’m worth.

Been retired since '07. My hobbies consuming my time. When I don't want to do anything any day, I don't. Feels great. Some of my hobbies turn a little money, but nothing great.
