Removing Suburban rear corner lower trim?

OK so pretty much all the lower stick-on trim on my 87 Suburban Silverado was gone when I bought it. In fact the ONLY piece left is the lower rear corner piece, but it is not glued on, it seems to have some sort of clips. I have gently tried to pry it off with a putty knife, but it just wants to start bending. I would like to take it off in one piece if possible, i hate to mess up anything I might want later.
Any tips to remove it intact? Is there some sort of plastic clip or something holding it on?

I believe there are two screws on the inside underneath behind that trim.

You should be able to access the clip by removing the taillights, if there are any clips, will include a picture of an 84 Silverado burb with molding removed.

Can't remember if it was plastic or metal, definitely wasn't a nut or screw, or if there were any at all, I remember it being only adhesive, but my truck was repainted at one point so, you know a grain of salt.

On my 87 Burb it was adhesive only. YMMV

Factory was real metal trim on the corners and the rest peel and stick.
Remove the tail lights and you can access the nuts to remove them.
I’m kinda torn on what to do. My OE metal corners look good, but the new trim kit is long enough to wrap around the corner and will look nicer albeit not as authentic.

Not sure about Suburbans, but here's how it is on the trucks. Metal clip in front with a nut on back and plastic on the empty hole similar to photo 2.

Lol, it's been so long since mine rusted and fell off, I couldn't remember how the dang things were actually fastened.
