Receiver hitches

My 1980 GMC dually currently does not have a receiver hitch, there are several good used ones on Facebook market but I don't know what years will interchange with my truck, this may be a broad question but how do I find out what years 2 in receiver hitch will fit my 1980 GMC 1-ton dually?

Look up a receiver hitch for your year and model on some manufacturer websites and see if they don't show right there what all applications it fits. If not then write down that part number and when you find one you are interested in look that one up by application and compare part number.

Besides finding one that simply fits, you also need one that is rated for the amount of weight you will be pulling around. Some hitches are more substantial than others.
