i AM CHANGING MY TRANSMISSION TO A 4L60E i ALREADY HAVE THE LS SWAP INSTALLED AND DRIVING BUT YOU JUST CANT SHIFT THE TRUCK 4 SPEED SM465 FAST ENOUGH.
SO I AM MAKING THE CHANGE TO THE AUTOMATIC.
i PRESENTLY HAVE A ONE WHEEL WONDER REAR END AND AM WANTING TO JUST CHANGE IT OUT WITH A DISK BRAKE POSI MAYBE OUT OF A TAHOE OR WHAT EVER .
dO ANY OF YOU HAVE THIS EXPIERENCE.
ARE THERE ANY THAT JUST BOLT IN PLACE THAT HAVE BOTH POSI AND DISC BRAKES.

FOR THE COMPLETE PACKAGE I THINK THIS IS WHAT I WILL NEED.

4L60E TRANSMISSION
AUTOMAT STYLE RADIATOR
DRIVE SHAFT LENGTH CHANGE
CROSSMEMBER
AUTOMATIC FLOOR SHIFT
POSI REAR END. (DISC BRAKES WOULD BE A PLUS BUT NOT MANDATORY)

IT IS A DOCUMENTED SPORT TRUCK WITH THE Z77 PACKAGE BUT IT WILL NEVER BE ORIGINAL AGAIN.
ONLY REASON I WANTED A POSI IS THAT PRESENTLY I SHREAD THE REAR TIRE THAT SPINS ALL THE TIME,
THE LS HAS THE FI TECH 500 HP FUEL INJECTION.

WOULD APPRICIATE ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS.

I think the newer rear axles are wider which cause an issue. Someone will chime in with actual info I'm sure.

NICE CAPS BY THE WAY (YELLING IN TEXT) LOL.

In my opinion....
Unless you are going to be a doing a big disc brake kit all the way around or live in a wet environment....you probably won't have any benefit to rear disc other than looks.

The rear disc on an unloaded truck does maybe 30-40% of the braking. A disc brake kit will probably improve 10-20% over the smaller drum and less on the HD drum package. 10-20% of 30-40% equals maybe a 5% improvement if you get everything right.

You'll probably have issues with the parking brake, possibly some slight mpg decrease d/t pad/rotor drag. A slight hesitation on brake application a road course d/t disc brake knock back on rear axles unless you do a ff conversion.

You'd do better by getting the HD drum set if you don't already have it. Rebuilding with good shoes. Installing some D52 front calipers and performance pad/rotor set-up. Hydroboost and ss lines will help as well.

I don't know much about the sport package but I will also say that unloaded short wheelbase trucks with posi are fun but also have a tendency to go sideways easily when they do break them loose. I used to be a pretty good driver with some track experience and I can handle when my Suburban or CC DRW go sideways but my K5 initiated the pucker factor when it broke loose. Fun but on the edge.

Ok now I may just keep the standard rear end no posi and no disc brakes my motive was that i am burning up one tire to often the efi kit provides 500 hp and you only have to tap the gas to get it smoking,
I think now my focus will be on getting a 4l60e installed in my short bed sport.
By the way the sport had larger /wider rear brakes I learned that the hard way when the parts store kwept giving me the wrong rear shoes they were not wide enough.
Also sport trucks came with 8 leaf spring on each side.
That gives my truck a tall stance.
Guys thanks for the imput my finger was stuck on the cap lock.

EFI does NOT provide up to 500 hp. It amazes me how many people think that EFI makes or adds ANY horsepower. It will SUPPORT up to 500 hp. If you're engine makes 150 hp adding EFI will bring the power output up to 150 hp. You will have better driveability but the HP won't change over a comparable "properly" tuned carburetor.

Don't use too small of a steering wheel!
