looks like the diff breather hose, should have a clip to hold it on the frame with a check valve on the end.

Mine mounts to the underside of the bed.

Yeah. You wanna get that up high. With a zip tie. Some people put air filters on them. Some use the check valve. Picture below.

Do you know if the trans(manual) and transfer cases also used vent hoses? I thought I was crazy under my truck when I saw at least 4 vent tubes in total. Unless there were just hoses stuck in places from my gpa doing stuff over the years. both differentials, for sure.

IIRC, there are vent hoses on my transfer case and both axles. The hoses run up high under the truck with a clamp holding them up and a check valve on the end. My TH350 does not have a vent.

My trans is a manual, so its not lubricated the same way as an automatic, I would assume possible a vent? Im not an expert. But good to know on TC. Mine are all still mounted properly and have vents. Do those valves ever go bad in your experience?

The vents can definitely get clogged. Mud, thick grease sludge or bugs, etc.

Things that rotate in oil should have vents so when the oil and air heats up, it doesn’t bypass the seals from thermal expansion.

For the record, my th400, np208, d60 and 14ff all have vent tubes. As @eskimomann209 said, my rear axle mounts to the under side of the bed on one of the bed’s support rails.

I believe that the TH350 vents through the fill tube.
