Rear diff vent tube

So I need to replace the rear diff vent tube in my Burb. I’m not having any luck finding what I need. What size is the hose coming off the diff and does anyone have a part number for the diff vent off the end of the hose? Or better yet, any part numbers to a full hose and vent assembly?

It's a press in barb into the axle, 3/8 hose a band style clamp to hold the hose in place on the body directly above rear axle and then the little plastic vent valve.

The hot setup is to run the 3/8" vent hose all the way to past the rear bumper, with an elbow to point it up. Secure with self tappers and zip ties, then install a funnel to the elbow, for ultimate venting.

Can anyone check the O.D. on a new one on the rearend side of the vent? Well if I had read better I wouldn't have written this @Turbo4whl told me what I needed to know in post 2. Thanks this is a real problem solver for a different application.

so over years of having a bad one....this could introduce water I would suspect? Thanks OP.

[edit] well damn. Just thought of something. To fill the rear end with fluid, get a barb fitting to fit the fill hole, run a hose to fluid container, then pull a vaccum on the vent barb. Only work if all the seals are good though.

That or fill from the top into the vent fitting. Better than pumping forever lol. Sorry for a bit of derail.

I would imagine some moisture could sneak in there, yes. My plan is to replace the vent tube and put new diff fluid in. Probably after my gauge install because I’ve been putting that off long enough and this issue isn’t pressing for me yet. So I’m aiming for beginning or middle of June.

You don't have to pump forever cut the hose just before the wand on a on a garden sprayer,put whatever quantity you want of gear oil in the sprayer and pump it up,gear oil comes out of the tube. Its quick.Its how I did it at the dealership because they gave us bottles and apiece of clear tube which took too long and I usually made a mess. I made a hanger for it out of a coat hanger.

When it rains the water will help rinse out any contaminates left in the exhaust (or differential). Remember water is a necessity of life... :shrug:
