So I see a lot of odd posts lately(common sense stuff). I wanted to get in on it.

My van has a dealer sticker on the hatch. I wanna remove it. Common sense says heat and a plastic blade.

I am lacking lately so I wanted to know about using paint thinner/Gas and a metal blade. I am not sure if that’s a safe way to go. Opinions?

I typically use my fingernail to get the letters off then some "goof off" to remove any residue.

On a more serious note, light-setting on a heat gun to soften the sticker first, then a finger nail or plastic scraper, and then goo gone to remove the adhesive remnants.

That is a major help. I was hung up on fine grit or coarse grit.

I was also considering just cutting it out and welding in a clean piece.
You know, with enough redneck ingenuity, you can super glue river rocks to a sanding disc and use that, it should be able to knock that, sticker off.

I use a rubber eraser wheel in a drill. Cheap and works good, just don't sit in one spot too long. I took off the dealer sticker, the 4x4 stickers, and the sticky foam from when I took my door guards off my trucks.

Just take the whole trunk lid off. That works best

I used to remove dealer stickers with a metal razor and mineral spirits or bug remover works best. It takes practice not to scratch it. If you do decide to go that route be sure to rub the blade up and down you're thigh with jeans on to remove any burrs on the blade. Like a straight razor on a leather strap at the barber shop.

I'd probably get the plastic blades to try first. Hair dryer will work if no heat gun. Once you get it started it should peel off pretty good.

I was able to get the one on the trunk of my camaro with my finger nail on a hot day last summer. I have kinda long finger nails too. If you don't it will be harder. Lol

Then wiped off the glue with mineral spirits.

I second Magic Eraser. Check out You Tube videos about removing adhesive trim. I've never personally used one but I have lots of friends who swear by them.

Peel it then clean with lighter fluid, mineral spirits or alcohol. Wax as needed.
Being a black vehicle you may have a ghost image for a while until the paint under it fades a bit.
