Radiator with twin fans

I took the fan clutch off today, spun the bi-metallic strip round to the next hole to lock it manually. Going to see what happens next time I take it out. Hopefully it won't overheat and we'll see if the fan clutch is the culprit.

Well damn. That's pure genius! I have to remember that trick.

If it were me Id get a new 4 core radiator, thermostat around 195 degrees, and a new clutch fan. Seal the shroud real well. If you want electric fans Id recommend 2010+ F150 fans. They supposedly flow 6000 cfm. They installed them on the Raptors as well. Otherwise Derale makes great fans.

Haven't driven too far since I did the mod with the hydraulic fan clutch but driving round town the last couple of times when I've gotten home I can here the overflow hose bubbling into the overflow container. Temp gets up to about 160, so not real warm. I'm thinking maybe a head gasket has let go and I'm getting compression gases into the coolant. Nothing showing in the oil. I'd like to pull the wagon off the road and get it sorted out. How difficult is it to lift the body off the chassis? I'd love to give the engine a light rebuild but don't fancy hauling it out the usual way. Can I lift the body off the chassis whilst leaving the engine/transmission still on the chassis?

A weak radiator cap will let the coolant gurgle into the overflow bottle.

Yep, I hadn't thought of that, makes sense though if the engine is not really hot enough to "boil" off that a weak radiator cap would allow some pressure to vent off to the overflow bottle. I'll swap that out and see if it makes a difference. Guess I'd need to remove the front fenders/guards to remove the body from the chassis?

Draw alot of amps(cheap). But i can stay under 150( gauge) in the rocks all day.

Its a huge radiator compared to what I had stock though also.

Yes the springs are backwards, but they were so weak that was the only way to get them tight.

It would cool even better with a shroud, but obviously you don't need it.

I have two 16" pullers for my 496 build. One is enough but I want redundancy to be sure to get home... should I want to actually return home.
