So this 85 C10 I'm putting back together...

I noticed the top of the radiator isn't really held in place by anything and can rock back and forth about 3/4".

There's got to be something missing there.

You need brackets like these and either rubber or polyurethane bushings

Thanks. Sometimes knowing what's missing is all you need.

@JustJohn,

So what was it? Was there something missing under the top mount? If so, how did the rubber supports fall out?

It turned out to be incorrectly assembled? It was a one piece radiator bracket, the bushings appear to land in the right place on the radiator and the previous installer bolted to the radiator support first and then to the shroud. Impossible to get any compression on the radiator that way so I bolted to the shroud first further down the slots and then to the radiator support. Appears to be ok.

here is my radiator fit question. I am replacing the radiator and it appears I need to raise the radiator about 1/2inch. The new aluminum radiator ends are square and it hits before it sits in the rubber bushing. I have some flat pvc sheeting that is about half inch, i am thinking of cutting spacers to fit on the radiator core support and put the rubber bushings on top of that. drilling a hole for the teet to hold it .....is there any sound thinking here??
