I moved this out of the Intro subforum and into a more appropriate subforum so that it would get the proper exposure :waytogo:

@Craig 85 Thanks for the explanation and details! That should be easy to identify. Also gives me something else to research with the gas door. Seems this truck may have been pieced together. Older bed with C20 3+3 cab. Question is, is it on a 3/4T frame with DRW conversion. Or is it on a 1T frame pieced together.

The 3/4 crew cabs were built on one ton frames. 3/4 regular cabs were on 3/4 ton frames.

It's fairly safe to say that the frame would have to be in fact a 1T based on the fact that the wheel base is so much longer than a regular cab. Wouldn't be able to get a 3+3 cab and bed to bolt on an actual 3/4 frame without obvious modifications. Sorry if that sounds dumb, but just trying to make sense of it with no actual identifying markers as of yet.

Just saw in your info that you're over in Olathe. I'm over on the Missouri of the KC area. :handshake: Welcome to GMSB.

With the bed being a '73-'78, look at the front frame horns. The 70's frames had frame horns that incorporated the lower bumper mount right into it. There was just a little "L" bracket on top of the frame for the upper bolt hole. The '81 and newer frames had a bumper mounting bracket separate from the frame.

So if it's a 70's frame with a 70's bed, chances are good it's a common cab-swap. If it's an 80's frame then there's a good chance that it was a crew cab C20 that had a dually conversion done on it.

Crew cabs were also never available with a black interior. That was only available with single cabs and a couple years for the K5 too.

Also look in the glove box for the SPID label. That will tell a lot too, if it matches the cab VIN.

Here are some more pics. Bummed I didn’t check this while I was out there. So didn’t check the glove box. There is no overload spring like I expected to see on a 1T chassis. Is that normal? The shocks were mounted in the correct spot that was reported to be normal 1T stuff.

The spring perches are rivots so not drilled out to suspect a major suspension change. Sorry random thought. As I’m thinking through

Looks like a C30 received a donor C20 cab to me. If that rear axle was swapped, it was at least several years ago.

Honestly though, it really doesn't matter what all has been swapped around. If the price is fair for the condition, that's what matters. It just can't be called a rare 3/4 ton dually.

**Edit** Nevermind. I just noticed it's a narrow 14 bolt rear axle. That means there's wheel spacers back there and 3 different trucks may be involved. Still shouldn't hurt the value though.

I believe pre '81 4x4 crew cabs had a 12 bolt front diff... just like Suburbans. Pretty hard to call that a K30...?
