Pulling transfer case question

I've never pulled a transfer case by itself, always with the tranny. Just wondering if there are any tricks to it or do you just pull the driveshafts, shifter, and unbolt it where it mates to the tranny. It's a 208 in a Blazer if that makes a difference. Also, is it going to leak a bunch of oil when I split it? Any idea how heavy it is? My transmission jack is acting up right now so I will probably have to manhandle it.

A 208 wont weigh much at all, at least in comparison to a 205 or 203 lol
Maybe 75 pounds?

You got the right idea. Of the 6 mounting bolts, pick the one that you feel will be easiest to unthread with one hand while you other arm is supporting the case. Pull that bolt first and thread it back in just a couple threads. Remove the other 5 bolts. Then hold up the case and remove the last bolt, and then support the case with both hands. Then wiggle it off the trans and lower the case onto your chest. Then roll to either side and push the case off of your chest and onto the ground.

That's the way a skinny guy such as myself has always done it without getting hurt.

Yes,it will leak fluid.The adapter will be full of it.I would leave bolts in it and spread it enough for the fluid to drain out.

That's what I was figuring would happen, have to make sure I have a drip pan and some rags handy. Will fluid come out of the tranny after the transfer case is off?

depends on how much/little your truck is lifted.
