PSA concerning ICT Billet brackets for sbc

I just discovered that the Power steering pump on an 84 will not work with the ICT billet brackets. The pump that is required has an extra threaded hole on the opposite side of the pulley. Furthermore the suggested 36p1435 pump is not in stock anywhere in the U.S.
I was able to cross reference what I believe to be the correct pump and will add part numbers once I confirm fit.

This is what came off my truck. The second hole mentioned will be located in the indentation to the right of the high pressure inlet....or in this picture slightly under and to the right.

The Saginaw internal pump castings are all the same except the high volume pumps. If you remove the pump reservoir you will see that the pump casting is threaded where the indentation is located.

Remove the pressure relief valve (where pressure port is for the hose) and the reservoir will come off. Locate and drill the hole in the reservoir. I would recommend drilling with a new, sharp, Unibit drill bit.

You will also want a pump seal kit. This will give you all new "O" rings to reseal the reservoir.

So does the kit come with an o ring to seal the drilled hole I presume? You just put the bolt through the hole with an oring on the bolt

Thanks Turbo4whl Now that youve told me that Ive already canceled my amazon order. I now plan to just buy a reservoir and swap over the pump.
On second thought...I ordered the rebuild kit and a step bit kit. Id rather have new tools over new parts in this case.

Yes a seal kit would have the front shaft seal, large "O" ring to seal the reservoir and several small "O" rings for bolt holes and the relief valve O ring seals.

The cast pump is grooved for the O rings at the bolt holes. Did you remove the reservoir and have a look?

Haven't gotten back tot he shop yet. Its not at my house. I did pick up a step bit set today and have ordered a rebuild kit. Ill be trying my hand at this modification Saturday. Worst that can happen is I get the hole off and have to buy a reservoir.
I appreciate you jumping on this when you did. I admit that I had thought about trying to do the exact same thing, though in my mind it was much more involved. Knowing that the Saginaw pump itself is cast somewhat universally saved me time and money.

The ICT Billet are made in america otherwise I wouldnt have purchased them. America first always!! They went on flawlessly after I modified the PS pump(which was in no way ICT's fault)


Update: the power steering pump modification went super smoothly. I will have a video of the procedure up soon. Had one already but my computer crashed right as I went to render​
