power steering

Ok I changed my power steering box and pump put new lines on and it squels. Fluid is full I can't figure it out any help would be appreciated.

Squealing or growling?

I just did the same thing to mine and had growling, after a while it went away. I think it just needed to be bled.

if it is squealling make sure your belt is tight enough

I would change the belt, and cycle the steering left to right slowly until all the air is purged from the system. You dont have to crank on the wheel like he-man, just slowly steer it back and forth till you gain more and more steering until you can turn it lock to lock.

Just make sure that when you are turning lock to lock to bled the air you have the front tires off the ground slightly to take the pressure off the pump. If it has a air bubble in it it will overheat the pump trying to turn it with the tires on the ground.

Belt squeal is either loose or slipping belts. Try some dishsoap on the new belts and see if it quiets them down.

Usually a squeel is a loose or worn belt. A whine is usually an air bubble that needs to be burped from the system, and a growl is a defective pump.

well put the bracket i got from the junk yard on and power steering works great! Thanks for the help
