My '77 GMC K15 does not have power door locks. I would like to convert it, but the only kits I can find are universal. Is there a kit designed specifically for these trucks that is plug & play with the factory wiring harness and compatible with the stock door switch? If not, are any of the universal kits going to play nice with the stock switch? The keyless entry feature they all offer would be kind of nice. Thanks!

LMC doesn't have anything? I know I have seen the kits that included the factory switches, harness and those goofy OE plug ends.

I bought this universal kit from Dakota Digital because I wanted something from somebody who is reputable. There are kits out there for under $20, I just don't want to deal with figuring it out when it doesn't work anymore. The cost difference is minor compared to the day I would lose trying to figure it out.

If you know a little about writing you could use one of these and use your phone to lock and unlock it.

I used G body lock actuators on my 81. The actuator is pretty common, it’s used in S-0, later full sized trucks, vans, big cars, your local junkyard is probably full of them.

Will the door latches from the later trucks fit the earlier doors? If I remember correctly, there is a separate connection point on the latch for the power lock actuator rod.

I would think the doors are similar enough you could adapt the later setup to the earlier doors with a little McGuyverism.
