Finally got to go camping! Same spot as the day trip. The van did great! It rained off and on but the whole familly stayed high and dry in the van. The tents got wet but there was plenty if room for the kids inside. :waytogo:

So the alternator has been draining the battery on the van. Ive been unpluging it whenever it sits more than a few minutes. Been working fine. Ive had a remanufactured ac delco from summit for a couple weeks now and i finally got it changed out today. The reman ac delco is draining the battery too. Do you guys think i got a bad alternator or can it be in the wiring? Any help is appreciated.

Sure it's the alternator? Are you disconnecting the battery or something else?

I once had a starter that would kill a battery lickety split.

Im disconecting the pigtail at the alternator. .075 ohms of draw with it connected and .05 unhooked.(ohm meter between negative battery cable and post.) Both the new and the old one read about the same. Had the volt meter on the battery terminals after i found that the new alternator was drawing: 12.8 before starting, 14.8 running and when i shut it off i could watch the volts drop until i pulled the pigtail, and then it leveled off. I have had this problem with cheeper alternators before. Thats why i bought a delco from summit. Just wanted to rule out the wiring before contacting summit.

Could it be the starter if disconnecting the alternator pigtail stops the draw?

I wouldn't think so. A look at a starting/charging diagram would say for sure.
