Finally getting around to giving the 85 square a paint job. Anyone have a good gm color/ppg paint code in beige/tan or other colors they like. Dropping a long step on it and doing white above the back window cab trim. Worried about picking something that's too yellow. Found a 57 that has a nice paint color but the site had it listed as a 57 calypso cream which doesn't seem right. I'll add the photo for reference

What!? $75k for that K? Was it zero miles?

Color wise I love my Indian Bronze/Doeskin combo, but lust for an orange/white or orange/silver combo. I saw a Sierra Classic today that was oh so pretty.

Mine right now is Indian bronze and tan. I love the color combo just shooting for something a bit lighter. That orange and white sure is sweet

I went with a MZB metallic silver, real fine metallic. I left the jams original. Original paint had no luster, looked more like battleship gray, plus it was a pealer…..argh

I don't think the color gets accurately displayed somewhere between the digital camera and the computer screen. My '87 GMC is actually darker than any of the pics I have and is definitely not yellow but the pics sometimes give it a yellowish look.

Anyway, this is the OE "tan" for 1987. It is just listed as Tan on the color chart. Note that there are actually 2 different Tan paints one in the second column and one in the fourth column. It was overwhelmingly popular though and was very often the secondary color on the nicer two-tone trucks.

I like the tan color a lot. It appears to be a solid color as well. It should hold up better over time and will be cooler in the summer.

Yeah on a sunny summer day I could fry an egg on my hood. Love the pin stripe on the tan too that's real sharp

While I would totally do the OE color like @Redfish truck, look at the color of the newer Toyota Tacos or 4 Runners. Desert tan. Looks sharp.
But then again it looks like somewhere between the first pic you posted and redfish truck. So maybe splitting hairs on color.
Should be relatively easy to get a new vehicle paint code. But then again it’s not hard to get old paint codes mixed either.

A co-worker has a Toyota Tacoma that darker tan color. He has customized it for off-road use so it sits about the same height as my '87. Since my truck is The Real Thing when it comes to 4WDs he often parks it next to mine and the color difference is obvious. Honestly, I never cared for either color but I have no intention of changing mine. If/When it gets repainted I will be going back with the factory, original, boring tan color.

Flipped through a bunch of old gm paint chips I think I'm going to go with either the 87 tan or im leaning more towards a 76-78 buckskin cause its a little darker. I'd run a newer make/model color but I like keeping it simple and I'm not super picky on the color. Can't go wrong with factory colors

My daughter just bought a new Colorado crewcab longbox in the Sand Dune color. Really can't tell when it's dirty, while I have the Brown Metallic that's kind of a b!tch to keep clean!!
