Welcome and beautiful truck. Always liked that color blue.

Check fluids, spark plugs, for sure change fuel filter, air filter. Get it up to temp and check that trans fluid. Belts for cracks, brake lines, shocks. Etc

There is vacuum line (it's a hard line) and vac modulator that goes from the transmission if you have a th350 to the intake manifold

I just looked at the photos, and your truck has 2 tanks. Please snap a photo of the RPO decal. I think on a '73, it's in the engine compartment. Will let us know if the left tank was factory installed. For everyone: did the early trucks have a tank selector on the dash by the ashtray?

I also noticed the three holes on the left rear fender. Looks like it had a CB antenna installed.

Dad's 87 did. Factory dual tanks. My ex kept hitting the switch whenever she drove it, setting it between tanks. Then call me saying she ran out of gas lol.

I recently bought a 1973 Chevy Cheyenne C20. Its got a 350 small block and TH350 trans. When I bought it I drove it 250 miles back home. It was doing good then it started backfiring on the highway.

Anyway this is my first classic truck and Im real excited to get her running perfect. It is definitely a project but all the major parts are there. The engine runs like crap at the moment, might need a rebuild.

I am more familiar with 90s chevy trucks and dont know a whole lot about these, so any help yall can give me would be awesome.

If it has been sitting it's more likely than not trash in the fuel system.
Plus today's gas just plain sucks. He gas pumps have labels on them saying the fuel may contain up to xx% ethanol.

Congrats!
That truck looks pretty mint for a ‘73! Love it!
I’m on the hunt for a round eye 2wd and that one would have fit the bill.

Welcome from Oregon!

Sounds like a "new to you" vehicle tune up is in order.
Do all the normal stuff like plugs, oil, wires, and filters to make sure they are all up to date.
You may have to get into the carb to clean it out as well, but those are pretty simple to deal with.

YouTube will be your friend if you have not had the opportunity to delve into them before.
My 20 year old watched some videos on there about the Holley we put onto my truck and it runs great.

first thing woul do is installll a new HEI distributor.
you COULD work on it and fi it yeh but its WAY MORE cost effective to simply buy a new one.
Prolly hard to buy a pickup coil anyways. dont worry about it too much.
not worth it.

look at the stack of money youre gonna "fix it up" with and double it. lol - you're gonna need more.

Where is the fuel filter supposed to be? Isnt it supposed to be right beside the carb?

If she still has the stock Rochester carburetor, yes. The fuel line running into the carb has a 1" fitting that threads into the front housing. That fitting releases the stock fuel filter & spring. Make sure the filter you find is installed correctly too. Ask me how I know- LOL!!

As others have already stated, nice rig man.

My truck has two fuel tanks and the left side one doesn’t work and i believe it has no gas in it. Could i swap tanks? Are they symmetrical or do they only fit on one side?
