Picked up a 1982 C30 yesterday... adding to the list of projects!

Have been looking for a dually for a while now, almost bought a really nice 1997 this past week. Was going to buy it this weekend but told my wife it's just not what I really want, I want a square body. Found this one on FB, 1982 with the 6.2 diesel which I'm not sold on yet. Body is really straight, even the original paint is pretty good. Little rust in the door sills and around the top of the front doors but rest looks solid. Think it's a good start. Have had quite a few Chevy/GMC trucks over the years but only 1 square body, 1977 SWB. Looking forward to getting this one into the shop after I finish what's taking up space right now.

Not a big fan of the diamond plate (or running boards for that matter) think those will go and the towing mirrors will be swapped out. Undecided on the sun shade on the cab, will probably leave it for now and see if it fits once more of the truck is done. Plan is to clean up the exterior, new interior, will have to see if the 6.2 will work.

Already see this forum is going to be a big help when I get into it.

Am always buying or selling something with wheels or hauling the race car so the dually will be my tow rig. Have a 2007.5 Duramax 2500HD right now. Nice truck but don't use it as much as I used to, selling it once this one is done.

Man, that is a killer truck! I love the way it looks as is. Swap in a Cummins or a big cube LS/6L90 or something and it would be really killer

Finally got the tires replaced and went for the first drive. Did a quick 5 mile trip, ran great (for a 6.2) then lost the alternator belt, just made it home before it died. Speedo and fuel gauge don't work but other than that seems solid. Was really surprised how good it rides for a 1 ton. Drove a standard cab dually years ago and that thing rode like it had concrete blocks instead of springs.
