Ok i have my baby v10 88 suburban everything is still factory i found her in Oklahoma anyway im in Wisconsin winter will be here im going to invest in undercoating or park during winter 4×4 not using in winter what kind of fun is that anyway my paint and original pinstripes i want to keep factory/ original what do i do to paint job to preserve what i have i feel alot of the value is in the fact its all original not touched yet no rust to mention even on frame none what can i do to preserve it can a paint guy save it anyone help have any ideas thx ahead of time

Normally I’d suggest rubberized undercoating, POR15, bedliner, and I think that’s a better option for vehicles in snow free areas, but I’d worry about missing a spot and rust getting under there where you’re at. I think if you were willing to be really thorough about it, you could hit the bottom with a zinc chromate primer, and then use an undercoating method of your choice, and that would be your best bet. Otherwise, you know what the alternative is. At least it can’t rust in there.

Ive got rust bleeding thru the tan the green u see peeling off to metal and i see areas of clearcoat issues maybe theres no saving original finishes here ive found the paint codes and ordered a small bottle of each i had thought maybe id be able to do some good that way i dont think theres a worse painter then myself it looked like crap no matter what i did so thats why i was looking for suggestions

I didn’t think square bodies had clear coat in 88, only gmt400 trucks.

I wasnt sure about that ill shoot a couple of pics and show what looks to me clear coat one side of back cargo door areas its all gone unfortunately to be continued lol

So only thing is complete body overhaul im curious what does that do to the value of our square body's
Obviously if its a rust bucket u gave it new life and realy increased the value if u have one original good shape but paint job finaly goes just curious if the value increases with new paint job
