I have it in my head that I am going to paint my truck in the next month or so (as soon as the forecast looks good). I am going to attempt the $50 rustoleum paint job. With this said, I don't want to kick off a debate about whether or not I should do rusto or single stage, I really want to try this method.

My question is:

I am planning on buying pearl flakes for the paint to give the color some depth (https://www.paintwithpearl.com/candy/pwpPewterGrey/pwpPewterGray.htm). I want to know if the pearl will tint the paint that I choose? I am going to attempt the go for a dark pearly grey color. If I add dark grey pearl will it tint a lighter paint (white or smoke grey) closer to the color I am looking for or not. (what does colored pearl do to normal paint?)

The stuff in the link you provided is to be put in the clear of a base/clear paint job. I doubt it will work with a Rust-Oleum paint job. I assume you are going to use the quart or gallon Rust-Oleum paint. If you are spraying that then it will need to be thinned to spray correctly.

Here is a good site about painting with Rust-Oleum paint either brush on or spray.
Good luck and give us updates.
