Does anyone have a code for the underhood black that's used on inner wheel houses and rad support?
I'd rather not use spray cans, but if you know of a good match I'd might consider it.

Now I feel like a loser for using 2 different brands of rattle can black on my new wheelhouse last week (they weren't even both gloss).

Thanks OP.

I'd still tell you the code if I knew it, but I don't.

I've always known it as "Eggshell Black".

Ha, I'm not being a snob, and I'm not building a show queen, I just like the sheen of the original paint.
VHT makes a Satin Black in rattle cans, I've used it on my frame and it's real close to the original. I just figured with the amount of paint it would take to do the wheel wells and rad support, a quart would be a better way to go.
I guess I should look over at Eastwood and see what they offer.

Well Eastwood has a semi gloss paint they call "Underhood Paint" in lacquer. I'll probably give that a try.

I used Eastwood semi-gloss Underhood Black in a rattle can about 10 years ago on another project and was happy with the result.

On my K30, I had the core support powder coated for about $150. I figured they would do a better job at stripping paint and surface rust than I could, plus end up with a more durable finish.

Just a quick follow up, I said the hell with it and used the VHT semi black. Now I can reassemble the front end.

Looks good.

Seeing that cooling fan reminds me of a story: one of the first Powertrain Cooling trips I went on as a young engineer we were struggling to get the 454 to maintain a reasonable temperature while going up and down Davis Dam. I was standing in front of the truck and casually pointed out that aux electric fan was blowing the wrong way. The electrical guys had wired it up backwards.

@Keith Seymore So is it PC to say the electrical guys were polar opposites? They weren't bi-polar. Or they were a pusher instead of a puller.

Ok, I'll stop.
