I finally got around to installing these rear shock mount reinforcement things from ORD. Bought these when I spent a fortune at ORD buying twin sticks for the 205, steering box reinforcement kit, blah blah blah. Anyways, these make the shock mount a double shear bracket so they don't crack the frame.

Just thought I'd share for fyi.

These look like a good upgrade, since the stock rear mounts on my '75 are just a hole through the frame. Stock mounts have no support on the outside of the upper shock mount.

I have the same.It’s a good upgrade.Those bolts always work themselves loose.

I hear it’s a real pain to repair on blazers and suburbans.Have to drop fuel tank.

Seems like cheap insurance like a steering box brace.

@SquareRoot,

Wow, these are quite different than others I've seen for racing purposes. One in particular is for the front upper shock mount that is a bracket that uses the bolt hole to attach the bracket, then you use a attachment point on the bracket to attach the shock so it's not on the frame at all.

But these look much stronger. Cool.

@Curt,

Curt, do you have to drill any holes or are those holes already there?

@SquareRoot,

Man, Mike. Is that the norm for the leaf springs on K's? Or is your truck a one ton, and a K?

You have to drill two 7/16th holes for each end of the brace. The design is very simple but effective. Only downside is you have to remove the brace to change the shocks. The nuts they supply are the mechanical thread locking type. My triceps are actually a little sore today between the drilling and cranking those nuts. LOL

My truck is a K20 with Rancho 2 inch lift springs. The axles are swapped from a CUCV (D60/14FF). I had to relocate the spring perches as the K20 is wider than the K30. The OE K20 axle was a semi-float. Semi floats are for girls...lol

I bought a set of those but then gave them to a friend of mine because they interfered with my 5th wheel trailer hitch bracket. :(

I have them on my k5 and also the steering gear bracket. Cheap way to protect your frame.
