Hey y’all… first time poster here. I’m looking at making a purchase of a 1984 K2500 and seller informs me there is oil leaking onto the header pipe (see photo with area circled in green) that he thinks is coming from oil filter housing. Any thoughts? Y’all agree or think something different?

Thanks

I'd be more suspicious of valve cover or intake gaskets. Hard to tell anything from the picture. If it has an oil cooler, then I could imagine it being the filter housing.

Possible plus oil pressure sender, back of intake, main seal, oil pan. Get underneath, start repairs with the highest most forward place oil is visible and move back.

A black light and oil dye is your friend.

I would be happy to but the truck is in TX and I’m in NC. Having to rely on a local mechanic to take a look at it until I can get out there.

Turns out here is the source of the leak… any idea what this item is on a 454? I’m guessing oil pressure sensor or switch? I tried to snap a screen of the oil leak in mid-drip!

Can't tell for sure but its either the oil cooler port or the oil pressure sending unit port.

Turns out that was the case… port for an oil pressure sending unit. Word I got was the bolt had backed out. We’ll see when I have a look at it myself.
