Oil filter part number

My truck has a 1977 350 in it. I am planning to switch to WIX or NAPA Gold oil filter. Anyone have the part number handy for either of those filters. Last oil change I did, I was in a pinch and Fram was the only option. Never been a fan of those.

Not to steel the thread but if I may ask a sub-question, to Scott's question. The WIX 51794 AKA big filter, anyone find an inexpensive source for these? I run the 51061's but the $17 or higher price on the 51794's have kept me from running them. Thanks.

That's better than oreillys. I think it was $22-$23, I'm about to buy another one shortly, need an oil change. I run em for the extra filtration and the extra quart capacity.

For everyone thinking about switching to the big filter, you get almost a perfect extra quart of capacity just by using the big filter.

Keep in mind this filter will also slightly affect your oil pressure, i saw slightly lower pressure across the range, mainly at idle, after going to the big filter. This may not be true for every engine, but it's something to consider.

Interesting on the oil pressure thing. I wonder why that would occur, perhaps oil flows better though the larger filters IDK. BTW the price I mentioned was from a wholesale supplier, but I just looked and I don't know why I hadn't thought to before. http://www.discountfleetsupply.com/ If you don't mind getting a case of 12, it's $104 + shipping which to my address is $46!! so that's $150, which works out to $12.50 a filter.... I have used them in the past so they are a legit company, I just don't know why I never thought to look up that filter there.

I agree with that. Though I'd accept a Microgard, NAPA or Carquest branded filter, who are all made by Wix, but who knows if they are made to the same standards, so my preferance is an actual Wix filter and for anyone who doesn't know O'Rielly's is a Wix distributor.

I looked today. The WIX on Amazon is $9.00 and they are $13.00 at my local Oreily's.

Somewhat off topic. on My 99 suburban I converted to a regular spin on filter in original location. A regular filter is too tall to clear the ifs front yoke. I found a filter a little shorter. Parts master #1069. Wix/ or Napa # is 51069. And I've been getting mine from NAPA for years now. If space is limited these numbers are good references.

FWIW: The Delco PN# for their 2 qt filter is PF932. Had the local Advance Auto store order in a half dozen for me. Don't remember the unit cost, but not enough to break the bank. It is stickered with a "Product of USA" label.

I learned from the parts guy once that a duramax oil filter fits Big Blocks and filter more microns. I've been using them on my 454.
