Oddball factory tach

I have a factory tach in my rig, I'm pretty sure it's original. I haven't ever seen another like it though. My truck is a 1978, but it has the RMC trim pkg. which from my understanding means that it had trim like the 1979 model. according to the VIN it was a 2wd 5.7 diesel originally but now has a 3 inch body lift and has 4wd but I don't know what the frame is, and it's 5.7 gasser. The tach is just like every other one produced between 79-87 but it has a redline on it starting around 4k while most don't have a redline. I've only seen a few others like this on the web and was wondering what the background might be on this. If anyone knows anything that'd be great, I'll snap a picture when I get home tonight. Does it look like this one? My dad has a '79 GMC K15 and it is what his tach looks like. His truck had the 400 originally and I believe they had a lower redline than the 350's.


EDIT: Does your tach also have a small gas gauge at the bottom of it? The medium duty trucks had a low RPM tach in them.

The 78/79 tachs have the redline as you describe. Not necessarily oddball, just uncommon. I have one like yours.

Ok, yeah mines like the first picture put on by "77 K20". I haven't got a picture but thats the one, going to 5K.

Idk the assembly itself it pretty beatup but the tach is in good shape id say 60bucks plus shipping is that fair?
