Odd chassis question

Im new to the square body world so im not up on all of the differences just yet but im learning. Hopefully yall can help me out with this deal. So ive bought an 86 c30 to build a tow rig for my race car. When i got it it didnt have a bed on it so i find one and i finally picked one up for it yesterday. It had a utility bed on it prior to me buying it. The bed is off the same year truck and everything but with the bed on my frame rails it seems short and the axle seems like its a lot more narrow than the truck the bed came off of. Was there a cab and chassis model in 86 or something because it doesnt look right at all. The bed isnt bolted up just yet but just centering the wheels up in the fender in looks odd. Anybody know if there were narrow axles or longer frames? I see no welds like it has been stretched. Its just a regular cab truck not 3+3. Thanks for any help in advance

Sounds like cab and chassis truck. They had longer frame and narrowed rear end.

Well hell. Is the axle itself more narrow or just the hubs different? I can shorten the frame up no issue there just need to figure out the axle situation i guess.

About 1/2 way down. Looks like the C&C is a whopping 9" narrower than the DRW. Also I think there was a 9' bed available for the C&C but don't quote me on that.

I guess I bought a cab and chassis truck. I wasnt even aware they offered a c&c. Well the guy i bought the bed off of was putting a flat bed maybe i could talk him into swaping the axles out.
