On my AFR gauge that I received for Christmas, the connector for the O2 sensor is HUGE. I’m fairly certain there’s no way to fit it through any of the existing holes in the firewall, and I’ll be damned if I’m drilling one that size.

Does anyone know if affects accuracy on an O2 sensor to cut the wires and then resplice them together?

Thanks in advance.

Does it have a plug/connector at the gauge?

On the ones I have I run the connector to the gauge from the outside of the firewall to the inside. Instead of the plug at the sensor from the inside out.

Does it use a bosch o2 sensor?

If so, you can snip the end off and put another end on with this.

With the proper release tool wires can be removed from connector and re-installed. It's a common repair procedure for bad connections.

Thanks guys! Sounds like pulling the pins and reinstalling them as the easiest way, the connector goes right to the control box and does not go to the gauge itself.

I have an Innovate AFR gauge, and the “control box” mounts on a frame rail under my truck - supposed to be weatherproof. From there I ran the wires up to the gauge and soldered them inline.

Important tip. Find a good solid ground point, and make sure all gauge and wiring grounds to that point. The O2 sensor monitors very small changes in voltage, so everything needs a common ground.

Yeah, good call. Sounds like we have a similar setup- mine is also Innovate. I was going to mount the control box inside the cab- if I remember right, the instructions for the LC-2 said that it needs to be protected from weather. So since it’s going to be close to the fusebox, I was going to use the main ground cleat on the e-brake.

My gauge uses the LC-1, and the instructions tell you to mount it under the vehicle near the O2 sensor. The LC-2 is part of a different Innovate product, and it has a different installation requirement. I know the LC-2 is newer and has more features.
