NV4500 In My '83 k1500

Hello all. This is my first post. I have recently purchased a 1983 gmc stepside with a 6.2 diesel. It is still in California as I have not yet gone to pick it up. It has an automatic transmission(don't know which tranny specifically yet), however I have a remanufactured nv4500 that I want to swap into it. My question is what kind of project am I looking forward to? What transfer case am I going to need? What other parts will be required to do this job and where is the best place for me to pick them up. Also has anyone done this project or something similar?

I have an nv4500 in my suburban, Check out advance adapters they have the parts and kits to do this swap. as for transfer case, that is all up to you, id recommend an np205.

Welcome Don. Be sure to start up an Under Construction thread and pics when you get it picked up from Cali.

So are you driving it from Cali to MS or are you having it shipped?

If you're driving it, be sure to stay in contact with this forum and members. If you have a breakdown somewhere along the way there's a chance one of the members here won't be to far away from you and may be able to come help, bring a tool or what ever you might need.
