My transfer case made a god awful noise and it felt like it bound up and snapped, so I went back home swapped out trucks and went to work, when I got home I removed the driveline and tailshaft housing to take a look and I discovered a bent snap ring.

I ordered a Sonnax Split Ring Retainer part# 100420-02K.

I have heard that this snap ring is a common failure on the NP241C transfer case and glad I took a look when I did.

I will update with more pics and installation info when the parts show up

new parts showed up today, my phone was dead and charging when I put it back together, was very easy, slide the 2 pieces onto the shaft and they will click into place, than slip the large washer over the top of them amd install new snap ring, literally took 5 minutes to install, here is a pic of the sonnax parts
