Hey everyone,
I'm very new to the whole forum thing so im not quite sure what im doing.
Anyways I've got an old 89 V2500 Suburban and im looking to restore it and hop it up a bit. The Truck has been in my family for years starting off its life on dulles airport as a surface andits now living at our lake house in New Hampshire. It still has less than 100k miles on it, and the ultimate goal is to make it into a hauler, we've got a massive 12,000lb boat that we'd love to be able to pull with it. It's currently got an old 350 chevy, wich is suprisingly able to pull the boat out off the ramp and about a mile before we get to the first hill :/ Recently our newer 2002 suburban's tranny blew up and we lost 3 and 4th gear. So my plan is to take the 5.3 out of that and put in the 89 burb. Realistically i don't think the 5.3 will pull the boat much better... but the aftermarket power adding soluions for that are much more apparent. If any of you guys have any advice for a young newbie looking to step into the world of square body's please leave your advice and if you have any ideas or input on my idea/build please tell me.

Thanks!

8.1l/4L85E! I'm currently doing this swap. Pulls way better than my Mark IV 454 did plus EFI reliability and overdrive trans. I was getting 7.5 mpg with the 454. I should average 13-14 unloaded in my truck.

Welcome to GMSB. To get some answers to your questions, it's best to start up a Build Thread in the Under Construction section of the forum. Since you're new to navigating a forum, I'll start it up with your original post here and you can catch up and learn the forum as you come visit.
