Excited to finally get my hands on a rust free square. I am originally from Minnesota where you can grab salt on your nearest road during the wintertime. Eats up the trucks pretty bad.

So naturally, what do I do when I get my hands on a truck from the South? I plan to cut it up and lay it on the ground. So - the short bed conversion, air bags, etc etc will all be part of this build.

Looking forward to swapping stories, tips, and tricks!

Welcome, tons of good info here. Just curious if you got a plan for salt protection living there, lol. Maybe while your chopping and dropping, set the body aside and undercoat the whole frame, then the same for under cab and bed. Being dropped, not like you'll ever see what is under there unless it's camped on a hoist for the winter.;)

Haha well unfortunately in Minnesota you get a good 3 months to drive your ride and then they get put away for the long winter. Luckily, the truck I just bought is from Memphis!

My 68 C10 on the other hand.... Lets just say she's seen plenty of salt. But - not to the point of unsalvageable!

The best defense for salt is a little pressure washer and it getting used frequently. Easier said than done. It helps if you have a warm garage it can live in, ready to go. Yo8 can't leave the washer outside in the winter or the pump block will get hooped first time it freezes out.
