About a year ago, I bought a 1985 GMC sierra classic K 1500 short bed from Nevada and I’m redoing the truck. I need some help with a couple things and stumbled across this forum. The truck is unbelievably clean no rust on it anywhere as a matter fact I been cleaning the frame with Zepp cleaner and a rag and it’s nicer than a brand new GMC pick up. I completely disassembled the truck, except for taking the cab off the frame and base cleared the truck in the original blue and white. I have some questions about the truck first of all I bought aftermarket gas tanks. I can’t seem to get them to fit. Because of the skid plates under the tanks, the fuel tanks were totally trashed. Has anyone run into this problem and if so, what tanks did you use on your truck? Second, I ordered a new fuel pump for it in the lines coming out of the fuel pump seem to be going in the wrong direction. Does anybody have a part number or something for the correct fuel pump because this definitely is not the correct fuel pump. The original 305 was junk and I installed a 400 small block in the truck with a four-speed original four-speed transmission. Thanks for reading my post.
