Worked on the console the other night. I resprayed the chrome trim on the trim pieces but I think I’m going to just refresh the panels completely they are faded and look dingy so I think I may spray them with a trim paint just to make them look better. That console was very nasty. I also laid down some new seam sealer around the seams in the trunk jambs so hopefully that will solve my water leakage back there.

So I went to the yard and grabbed two seals off two cavaliers one a 01 the other a 04 and apparently the 04 seals are different with how there made even though there identical cars so the passenger side fits kinda so so it’ll probably leak and I’ll have to source another seal didn’t notice the difference until I started installing them. The drivers side fits nice though

I wonder what year they changed. And why, lol.

Mine came from a '97, they fit like your driver's side.

Somewhere between 01 and 04 is when they changed guess we’ll see how it does when the rain comes this evening. I may go back tomorrow and try and find a matching one. One was missing on the 01

Great progress!

Sidenote: this beauty came into the shop for tires the other day.

Finally got a chance to pick up two door seals off a 98 cavalier at pull a part, One is a extra. Hopefully this will seal the passenger door. Drivers door I’m going to rebuild the hinges and adjust the striker I feel like the door isn’t fully sealing due to worn hinges and I know someone has messed with the striker as they have a brace plate on it

The striker post is mounted to a rather flimsy area, it's extremely common for them to crack out of the sheetmetal when the door sags and starts to drag. So you will likely find a bunch of cracked sheetmetal under that brace plate. It's not too awful hard to fix the right way, but definitely wait to do that once you have the door pins and alignment taken care of.

Yeah it’s pretty common I got a welder and can get that fixed up once i buy some gas for it. Any luck on the passenger door window switch pod?

I found part of it I need the piece that holds the switch in the pod

Gotcha. That's the odd piece that I was unsure if I had. I know where to look in my stash though.

Got the door seal swapped out with the older cavalier seal much better fit. Going to get some door hinge pins and rebuild the hinges and do some adjustments on the doors in hopes of sealing better. I hate to put it all back together and have the carpet become a mess again
