Helle, I’m new to this forum, just purchased a 1987 GNMC Sierra Classic 1500. It has been barn stored for the past 10 years. No rust, body and paint in very good condition. 5.7l, 51,000 miles.
This will be my daily driver (4 miles a day 1/2 gravel).
Issues I will be addressing right away: Does not cold start well, once running it does run great. Only One of the two fuel tanks working, looks like it has been than way for some time. There is old sticker on switch saying only use right tank. I have run premium with SEAFoam in tank, sprayed TBI with cleaner, and changed the IAC Valve. It runs smoother now, starts a little better but surges until warm. I plan to work on fuel system first, and some miner interior fixes. Drives straight but some grabbing of brakes. Will check those tomorrow, plan on rotor and disks.
I need lots of help with electronics and sensor.
My last driver was mint condition 1991 Jeep Comanche that was hit and totaled. Before that I have rebuilt 1972 Triumph Spitfire, 1931 Ford A (used daily for year). And I have started long term build of 1915 Ford T truck that will be hybrid diesel/Electric With motorcycle disk brakes on wood wheels.
