new To the site , first square body truck , first 4x4 .
Always wanted one now I got one , me and the lady are gonna fix er up decent and thought this would be the best place to post about it , and get advice etc. and share the project with other square body owners ,
Here’s the thing , I’ve never really worked on anything really other than some easy general stuff , so imma need yalls help and experience.
Don’t know much about the truck other than it’s an 81 c1500 on the title , but is 4x4 , idk if it was originally a 4xr but it is now.
Has bow ties on the cab trim so that’s obviously changed , it’s basically Frankensteined but that’s ok with me , it’s all gm.
Has a crate 350 as far as I know , haven’t looked to see ifs it’s a 305 yet , I got duped on a Camaro like that once. Lol
Has a three sped trans , don’t know which one yet , but has a hurts slap shift , the annoying one where u have to lift and pull to go from p to rev, then push down etc it’s real annoying lol
Don’t know which t case
Has 12 bolt rear and 10 bolt front , pretty sure their Corp but no clue of the actual gearing.
Parts I have for it so far are :

Tac , oil , temp , and (volts- ( not connected)
Heater core and hoses
Wipers
Timing cover gasket kit
Oil pan gasket kit
Gear oil
Spark plugs and wires
Rotor button n dist cap
Oil change trans oil change
New alternator
I took apart the starter and cleaned off the contacts etc
Tail lights , which I only needed the inner plate
And some other stuff I don’t remember that I’ll add later

Stuff I need

Cluster
Wiring harness
Rear lights wired
4x4 won’t lock in
Wanna switch trans to 5 speed manual
Make sure heater works
Install parts I have
Make sure wiper motor is there and works
Replace fluids
Alignment
Front calipers and rubber lines
Tag it and ROLLLLLLLL
AND WHATEVER ELSE I FORGOT TO LIST AND WHATEVER ELSE WE NEED ALONG THE WAY HAHA

Welcome, from Eastern Montana.
Yeah for sure on those differential breather tubes, they get busted and even the humidity in the air will rust out those differential side bearings. Its a long story so I`ll now stop right there. :happy160::happy175::happy175::happy175:
