Hi, I'm New to the forum and from New Mexico. I'm 19 and I have a 79' Custom Deluxe 10 in Mexico that was originally my dad's but he doesn't have the time or money to give it the attention it needs so he handed it down to me under the condition I continue to find interest in it & Give it the TLC it needs. A couple years ago I was down there & Got it to run but noticed there was a crack on a external part of the engine from which I'm assuming was engine coolant that was shooting out. I didn't take a picture of the part when I took it off however I do have video. It's a bit difficult to see but hopefully you guys can help me identify what the part is called and Where I can get a replacement. I'm going down there again this December and plan on moving it from where its sitting so that part is a big necessity. Thanks again GM Forum I look forward to contributing & Learning from this striving community.

That's in the area of the water outlet/thermostat housing.

I believe @Colin is correct. Could be as simple as the gasket or might need a new thermostat housing

I would get a new upper hose, water neck, thermostat w/gasket and some or all of that will do the job. Parts are not too pricey and can return the parts not needed. Don't forget to have anti freeze if needed.

If the leaking part has a couple bolts going down into the engine and a dome shape in between the bolts it's the thermostat housing, or it's gasket... You can get one at almost any auto parts store. And get a new thermostat while you're at it.
Good luck with it.

Appears to be the goose neck or gasket under it. Cheap easy fix

For sure a regional thing. To much coal dust ingestion causes the manufacturing of terms .
