Just picked up an 86, 1/2 ton, 4WD GMC. Its a shortbed with a mild lift, 3" body and has 3/4 ton axels and 35" tires. Its been hacked up from the past owners and I'm working on getting it back to road worthy. Needs some body work and a new paint job as well as some frame strengthening. It has had a couple cracks and the repairs are not very nice. Someone has swapped the original 305 for a 350 with an Edelbrock carb but I have no idea what else was done to the engine. It still has the TH 700 R4 in it and seems to have a shift kit installed. Just looking for some good tech info from Square body.com to get this back in shape.

Welcome! A 3" body lift is a bit much in a lot of people's opinion. Typically just a 1" is as much as much as you would want to do.

Is a good website to not only look at products, but they have some good tech articles. They have almost everything you'd want for a 4x4. Even steering box braces and rear shock braces... and engine crossmembers (all 3 sometimes crack).
