Hey all,
Names James I’m from Michigan.
New to the site, new to the square body world. As soon as I seen the info available on here it was a no brainer to be a member. Thank you all already for the info you’ve provided. First square body I’ve owned. First carbureted vehicle I’ve owned. Pretty excited that my lawn mower and pickup are now the same age. I’ve had my truck for 4 months and all heck’s already broke loose. In the middle of major surgery on it now. Trucks a 1986 gmc k1500 with old 350 and a 700r4. Had 3.08 gears with an open diff when I bought it with 35” tires. Rear end was worn out. Torque converter burned up after 2 months. Vac switch on the firewall didn’t help with that. Soo while trans and tcase were away being rebuilt I swapped the rear end with 4:10 gears with posi and put new a 4” lift on with lift springs to get rid of the blocks. All new stainless brake lines and hoses. Had issues with the drums locking up in the rear the 1st month I had it. New rear ends been converted to disc (awesome kit). Working on wiring tcc lockup for the rebuild trans I just put back in it to make sure it’s gonna work. Wiring is a lil sketchy. Glad to be on this site!
